Instructions

1

Cut the power to the dishwasher where you will be replacing the door spring. You can do this by unplugging the dishwasher or (more commonly) cutting the power supply for the dishwasher at the main circuit.
2

Remove the toe and kick panels from the bottom of the refrigerator. The toe panel is the shorter panel located next to the floor. There will be screws on the front or side that need to be removed to release the panels. The kick plate, located just beneath the dishwasher door, may have screws mounted on the top. In this case, open the dishwasher door to remove these screws.
3

Close the dishwasher door.
4

Locate the end of the springs on either side of the dishwasher inside the kick or toe panel. Pull the end of the spring off the mounting point on the dishwasher body with a pair of pliers.
5

Open the dishwasher door. Remove the other end of the spring from side of the dishwasher door.
6

Slip a spring over the mounting points on the inside of the door. Close the dishwasher door.
7

Stretch the springs out with the pliers and slip them over the mounting points on the dishwasher body.
8

Replace the toe and kick panels. Open and shut the refrigerator door to ensure that the springs are working properly. Restore power to the dishwasher.
