How to Create a Partition for Vista
- 1). Click the "Start" menu and then click "Control Panel," "System and Maintenance," "Administrative Tools" and "Computer Management." A Computer Management window opens.
- 2). Click "Disk Management" in the navigation pane, which is the left-most pane.
- 3). Right-click anywhere on your hard drive labeled "Unallocated Space" and select "New Simple Volume." Click "Next" to configure the partition.
- 4). Enter the size, in megabytes, you want the partition to be. You can also choose the default partition size, which allocates the remaining memory on the hard drive to the partition. Click "Next."
- 5). Choose a drive letter for the partition. You can also accept the default drive letter. Click "Next" to proceed to the formatting options.
- 6). Click "Next" in the Format Partition dialog box. This formats the partition using the Windows default NTFS file system.
- 7). Click "Finish" and the partition is created.
