Spotlight on DSI Marketing Communications: A Direct Capital Success Story
Laurie Cote, owner and CEO of DSI Marketing Communications, has Wonder Woman figurines lining her desk in her brightly colored office in Chelmsford, Massachusetts. It makes sense.
Someone who manages to more than quadruple the size of their business in three years clearly has a little superhero in her.
Cote's company, DSI Marketing, is a full service marketing company that does everything from large company mailings to websites and online marketing.
€I started in the basement of my house, not far from here,€ Cote says. €I was project managing print jobs and doing design work for a handful of local companies. That was about 12 years ago.€
DSI has grown steadily since then, working out of a facility on the border of Westford today, and even taking on some large projects for some big-name clients like Comcast and Joseph's Bakery.
Every business owner knows that with big growth comes big work. Last year, it was clear that DSI needed more equipment to be able to handle the huge number of print projects that were quickly adding up. That's when they sought out a lender to help finance a large format printer that would allow them to print large banners and posters, a large format cutter, and an additional digital printer - equipment critical to their success.
That's where Direct Capital came in.
Cote heard about Direct Capital through a referral from another one of their vendors and called the company shortly after. Since then, she says the process has been a pleasant one, particularly when it comes to interfacing with her account manager, Matt Manning.
€Our bank is getting so big, it's becoming less personal. With Direct Capital we still have a person. It's totally different than working with a bank,€ she says. €Matt has been great about getting back to us quickly.€
Thanks to their three new pieces of equipment, DSI is poised to tackle any project that comes their way. In fact, they're ready to keep growing. Cote plans to call Direct Capital again in the very near future to help finance yet another printer, she told me.
Manning is looking forward to the call. €It's great to be able to continue to help a small business grow and be successful,€ he says.
As for Cote, she's just happy to be able to keeping doing what she loves.
€I get to do something different each day. I wouldn't want to do anything else.€
