America loves to travel. We have an industry dedicated to visiting other places. You'll find ads for Michigan, Florida, California and a dozen other states, showing you what that state has to offer. Be it by plane, train or automobile, Americans travel by the million all over the US and the world. Travel has gotten more streamlined as well. Air planes are more like busses of the sky and there are new roads being built every day to better serve those whom are traveling throughout the states. Something else that has improved is the various gadgets you can bring along to make your traveling easier. While the simple atlas, travel toothbrush and tooth paste are still staples, there are other higher tech means of assisting and entertaining you as you go from one point to the next.

One of the best travel gadgets of the last few years is the tablet computer, with the best know one probably being the iPad. Combing entertainment, portability and helpful applications, the iPad is the ultimate travel accessory. Say you want to hit the road and see America by car. You can download the free app called Waze. It will give you up the minute road updates, as well as plot your trip by whatever means you choose. It can avoid highways and tolls or just take the shortest route. You'll also receive feedback from the €Waze community€ who will tell you about various places to eat or stop. Perhaps you're traveling by plane? You can download books or movies on the iPad and watch or read on the fairly large screen. Apple's iTunes has a wide variety of books, audio books and movies you can get year around. They also have sales you can take advantage of. Finally, if you are traveling with kids or just enjoy games yourself, there are several available, often for free. With a simple flick of your finger you can spend hours playing all these games and most don't require an internet connection. Just make sure and watch your battery consumption. Some of these games are processor intensive and will leave your iPad DOA and in desperate need of a charge!

Other, simpler gadgets are also available to make travel a little easier. Noise canceling headphones are great for both car and plane trips. You can listen to music or books and not have to worry about noise from fellow passengers or the road. Obviously we don't recommend using these while driving! Another helpful gadget is the little travel scale. This may seem like a strange device but it's very simple to use. Simply hook the device to the handle of any piece of luggage and lift. It will tell you approximately what your bag weighs. This is great for avoiding those extra baggage fees or putting too much weight on the top of your car! One final little piece of inexpensive travel equipment is the headphone splitter. This way the little ones can share music, movies or games if they feel the need. It'll all be self-contained to the same device!

These are only a few of the cutting edge gadgets out there designed to help with your travel. Take a cruise around internet and see what else is out there. You never know what you might find!
