The Top Three MLM Recruiting Mistakes - And How to Avoid Them!
Recruiting people into your MLM opportunity is the # 1 thing you can do to grow your organization and your pay check.
After all, that's why most people join an MLM...
to make money.
Teaching your new reps to recruit is a close second.
Why would you want to enroll someone if they aren't going to recruit?!? 80% of your time and energy should be spent on these two activities.
Do them first!!! And do them often!!! So, let's dive into the top three recruiting mistakes that most people make when they join an MLM.
The first mistake that people make is they underestimate the number of people they are gonna have to approach about their new business opportunity.
Most people are going to say no to MLM.
That's okay.
Remember the SW rule: Some Will, Some Won't, Someone's always Waiting.
Your job isn't to sell people...
your job is to sort people.
You must have the mindset that you are going to need to talk to a lot of people to have success.
You're going to be hard pressed to make a decent amount of money in this industry if you are only talking to a few people a week.
You've got to talk to at least 10 people a day to be successful.
Not willing to talk to 10 people a day? No biggie.
You're just not going to do well in this industry...
period! May sound harsh...
just being real.
You also must keep your emotions in check.
Most newbies are feeling great when they get a new rep enrolled and devastated when they get rejected.
I always tell people, "If you like it great.
If you don't that's fine too.
Just don't say no until you at least look at the information.
" The second mistake people make is they FAIL TO TAKE ACTION.
Listen...
you can read the company website until you are blue in the face.
You can wait until you try the products to make sure they are good before you tell anyone.
It's all bs...
just excuses my friend.
Don't get caught up in paralysis by analysis.
Ignorance on fire is much better than knowledge on ice.
You can make money or you can make excuses, but you can't do both.
Here's the deal...
the people that want to wait until they know everything aren't ever going to do anything.
It's because they don't want to make any mistakes.
How do you think you learn something new? How do babies learn to walk? They make mistakes until they get it right!!! You can study the info in your welcome pack until you have it all memorized.
Meanwhile...
you haven't made any money my friend.
Get out there.
Make some mistakes.
It's okay.
People aren't going to be moved to look at your opportunity by what you know.
They are going to be moved into action because of your passion!!! We learn by doing.
Not by studying.
Get out there and do something...
anything!!! Just take action.
The third mistake people make is that they try to sell their prospects.
Quit trying to convince people to join your MLM.
People love to buy, but they hate to be sold.
So quit trying to sell them.
Listen...
you have no idea why someone may or may not be willing to join you in your MLM business.
So let the company resources (conference calls, webinars, websites, etc) do the selling for you.
Most people are relieved when I tell them that if you are selling anything you are doing it wrong.
Your job is to qualify people then expose them to the resources your company provides.
That's it!!! Let them make up their own decision from there.
"Hey __________, you got a minute.
Well I just found out about a way to make a few extra bucks from home and I thought of you.
Anyways, are you open to getting more information?" That's it!!! If so, direct them to the website, conference call, etc.
"But Justin, what do I do when they start asking me questions?" Deflect the questions...
tell them the conference call will answer them all for them...
tell them you're new in the biz and don't want to screw it up for them...
do anything but answer their questions.
If you do, you're sunk!!! Give them the company resource and get out of their way.
Let them make their own decision.
Let them sell themselves on why they need to join your new MLM.
If you sell them they're heart won't be in it and you'll be wondering why they quit in two weeks.
So, now that you know what the three biggest mistakes are...
what do you do about it?!?!? Simple, you tell your new recruits what they are!!! If they know where the potholes are they can avoid them or just quit...
which some of them might.
Better now than after they've wasted a bunch of your time.
The most effective and efficient way to give them this information is by conducting an orientation call or webinar for new reps no more than once per week.
Have a set day and time that you run this call.
Arm your new reps with everything they are going to need to be successful with your opportunity.
Talk about these mistakes right at the beginning of the call.
You should also give them all the basics of your company...
such as how to log into the back office, how to reach customer support, how to enroll a new rep, etc.
End the call by reviewing the top three mistakes and giving them a crystal clear game plan about what they need to do over the next week or two.
I know this information will help you in your recruiting efforts.
It's all worked for me!!! The key is taking action!!! Go out there and make it happen!!!
