    Decalcifying

    • 1). Fill the coffee maker water container with 3 cups of cold water. Add 3 cups of vinegar essence.

    • 2). Turn on the coffee maker and allow the vinegar/water solution to cycle through the coffee maker. The vinegar will dissolve mineral buildup. This will enhance coffee taste and may speed up the coffee making process.

    • 3). Cycle fresh decalcifying solution at least twice; you can do it more times if your coffee maker has been running slower than usual.

    • 4). Fill the water container completely with fresh cold water. Cycle the water, and then run the cycle again with fresh cold water. Cycle fresh water through at least as many times as you cycled the vinegar, to remove any residual decalcifying solution.

    Cleaning

    • 1). Unplug the coffee maker to remove all electrical current. Make sure the carafe and all parts of the maker are completely cool.

    • 2). Remove the carafe from your coffee maker. Add 1 to 2 tbsp. of kitchen salt and fill the rest of the carafe with cold water. Gently swirl the salt water mixture until it has removed any coffee stains in the carafe. Empty the mixture and rinse the carafe thoroughly to remove any residual salt.

    • 3). Wipe down the outside of the carafe, the heat plate, the outside of the machine and any removable parts, such as filter cups, with a rag dampened in warm water. Many coffee makers feature removable parts that are dishwasher safe; consult your user's manual to find out if you can use such cleaning methods.
