Coffee.
An acquired taste.
But the taste of bad coffee, it can't be acquired and is best forgotten.
So what is the art of a great coffee which leaves you satisfied, yet hankering for more the next day and the day after.
This is what a great coffee is about.
The intriguing and exotic taste.
The taste that leaves you wanting more.
What Makes a Great Coffee?
  • The first thing, that you have little control over, other than through the coffee that you buy is the roast.
That said, if you are really serious, you can roast your own.
It is worth it to get the freshest taste possible.
A slow and dry roast provides the perfect balance of flavors, aromas and acids.
It is not the only way it is done, but is the purest and the best.
The balance is difficult to find.
It is an art, that is all there is to say about it.
  • The second thing is to grind the coffee yourself.
As soon as it is ground it begins to lose its flavor.
So investing in a good grinding machine is well worth it for the home connoisseur.
Grind it fresh and you can nearly forget about the rest.
  • The third thing is the water.
Depending on what your tap water is like, you may want to use a cheap bottle of bottled water for your coffee.
A pure base for the flavor of your fresh ground coffee to circulate in.
  • Fourthly is making it.
This really depends on your budget.
For the budget conscious a pour over set produces a great pure coffee at the smallest price, way better than your filter coffee.
For those with a higher budget available then you will be looking at commercial type models which produce your coffee at high pressure.
With these machines, essentially money talks.
The more you invest, you can pretty much guarantee that your coffee is going to be better.
Although, after a while the extra money doesn't really gain you much, the first few hundred dollars counts.
There are plenty of good espresso makers nowadays that you can sit on your kitchen work top.
The best thing is to go for a specialist machine though, the all in one machines lose some power trying to put it all in.
With this great coffee you can enjoy it just for the taste.
You may even be able to avoid all those fattening extras you have become accustomed to just in order to bear the taste.
  • Lastly.
    The conversation.
Any coffee just tastes better when shared with a friend and a good conversation.
