    • 1). Cover your work surface with wax paper to protect it from any resin spills. Work outdoors or in a well-ventilated area with open windows to avoid breathing fumes.

    • 2). Turn the photograph or backing image face down and lay over the pendant blank. Pendant blanks are available at most craft stores as well as jewelry and beading supply shops. Press gently to make an impression of the rim of the blank and the inside space the photo needs to fit.

    • 3). Trim the backing image carefully with the scissors to the size of the inside of the pendant blank. The entire piece will be visible, so get the cut edges as close and neat as possible.

    • 4). Spread a thin layer of white glue on the inside bottom of the pendant blank with a small paintbrush. Put the photo or backing in the blank facing up. Press down lightly to secure it in the glue.

    • 5). Add any small findings or mementos that will go inside the pendant. Set them on top of the photo in the pendant blank.

    • 6). Read the instructions on the epoxy resin package to determine the correct amounts of each ingredient to be used. There are a large number of jewelry or clear cast resin products on the market. Each will have its own specific instructions.

    • 7). Measure the first part of the epoxy resin in a disposable measuring cup. Wear the filter mask and disposable gloves when working with the epoxy to prevent accidental contact with skin or inhaling the vapors.

    • 8). Pour the first part of the resin from the measuring cup into the disposable mixing cup, scraping the inside of the measuring cup with a craft stick to make sure it is all transferred.

    • 9). Measure the second part of the epoxy into a new measuring cup using a new craft stick. Transfer to the mixing cup in the same manner.

    • 10

Mix the epoxy resin for two minutes with one of the craft sticks, or as recommended on the package. The resin may become warm when mixing, which is part of the activating process.

Pour the resin carefully into the pendant blank. Cover the photo and any items in the blank, and fill the blank to the rim. Tiny bubbles may rise to the surface. Blow gently on the top of the resin to break them.

Allow the pendant to cure for the recommended time, usually 24 to 72 hours. Create a small wax paper tent to cover the pendant and keep dust from coming into contact with the surface until it cures.
