How to Make a No Sew Fabric Robe Costume
- 1). Hold your arms straight out and measure the distance from wrist to wrist, to determine the width of the fabric you need. Measure the distance from your shoulder to the ground and double it for the height measurement. Purchase your fabric accordingly.
- 2). Wash and iron the fabric, if necessary, to pre-shrink it and remove any wrinkles. Fold the fabric in half horizontally, and cut a small hole in the center of the fold to start the neckline. Start smaller than you need and enlarge it as necessary; if the hole is too large, rebuy the fabric and start over.
- 3). Put your robe on, and place a pin under each arm to form the base of the sleeves. Leave enough room to move your arms and bend so the finished costume doesn't restrict your movement. Remove the robe and lay it out on a flat work surface.
- 4). Use the pins as a guide and cut up at an angle, from the bottom corners of the fabric, to form long flowing sleeves. Turn the fabric so the wrong side faces out, and use fabric glue or iron-on fusable hem tape to connect the sides of the robe and the bottom of the sleeves. Let the fabric cool completely and turn the robe right-side out to wear.
