There are many types of merchants.
There are merchants who do business in their own office.
Some do business on the road.
Some on trade shows and flea markets.
With these types of businesses, different kinds of imprinters were also made to suit each one of them.
What are imprinters and how do they help merchants in their transactions? Imprinters are designed to attain a clear impression of the physical credit being used for a specific transaction.
Basically, an imprinter only makes half of the processing method.
You still need to process the charges later using one of the other methods.
There are a number of risks that can result from separating the collection of information for later processing.
For example, if a merchant process the card with the customer standing nearby, the merchant can actually tell the customer if the card didn't get through and that he needs another method of payment.
But, if the merchant run the card at a later time and the card is declined because the customer have exceeded the credit limit, then, it's a big problem for the merchant.
Worst case may happen if the merchant is carrying a stack of slips and loses it, he's out of a bunch of payments or he may have funded a customer who loves to shops, specifically electronics.
Visa has been recognized as the leading leader of the credit card associations.
Innovations have also made its way to credit cards.
Instead of a metal sheet used in the early days, plastic credit cards are now in use.
The plastic card is placed on the imprinter, a multi-part sales draft is placed on top of the card, and the roller presses an imprint of the card onto the sales draft along with the merchant's identification information.
Other information can be manually entered.
After printing, the customer then signs the sales draft as proof of approval for the sales transaction.
Merchants use imprinters to back up their trade.
However, not all merchants use the same types.
For merchants who do their business in remote areas that do not have access to electricity or back up during power outages, flatbed imprinters are most commonly use.
Merchants use this since these imprinters are manual mechanical devices that don't require electricity to operate.
For merchants who do high- volume of transactions, like travel, dining or entertainment, electric imprinters are preferred.
For those who has delivery services, taxi and limousine services, and in home party businesses, portable imprinters are used.
Pump handle imprinters are also use by other merchants since it has the same function as that of the flatbed.
Manual imprinters are also popular.
It is a great method to accept credit cards.
After the merchant takes an imprint of the card, the merchant gets a phone authorization to process the card.
The imprinter will also provide a backup method to accept the card if primary method is unavailable.
With this process, the merchant can still accept the card without turning down a sale for the reason that he cannot process the credit card.
Also, the business information is automatically printed on the slip, using the imprint plate provided by the merchant's credit card processing bank.
Sales draft not only serves as physical sheet of transaction but it also serves as a back up for chargebacks and disputes.
It can also track down loans and payments made.
The customer can also track down his purchases or how much debt he is already in.
In such cases, a customer turns to debt consolidation where multiple credit loans are replaced with just one that has a lower interest than the original loan.
