How to Make a Bootable USB Hard Disk
- 1). Download and install the HP USB Disk Format Tool (see Resources).
- 2). Download Windows system files (see Resources).
- 3). Attach the USB drive.
- 4). Launch the HP USB Disk Format program.
- 5). Choose the USB drive from the "Device" menu.
- 6). Choose "FAT 32" from the "File system" menu.
- 7). Click the "Create a DOS startup disk" check box.
- 8). Click the ellipsis (dotted) box and select the folder with the Windows system files in it.
- 9). Click "Start" to begin. Click "Yes" when the warning prompt comes up. Allow the format to complete. The USB drive is now bootable.
