How to Make a Bootable USB Hard Disk

    • 1). Download and install the HP USB Disk Format Tool (see Resources).

    • 2). Download Windows system files (see Resources).

    • 3). Attach the USB drive.

    • 4). Launch the HP USB Disk Format program.

    • 5). Choose the USB drive from the "Device" menu.

    • 6). Choose "FAT 32" from the "File system" menu.

    • 7). Click the "Create a DOS startup disk" check box.

    • 8). Click the ellipsis (dotted) box and select the folder with the Windows system files in it.

    • 9). Click "Start" to begin. Click "Yes" when the warning prompt comes up. Allow the format to complete. The USB drive is now bootable.
