Cowboy boots definitely pop into mind when thinking of anything Western. Carve out the outline of two boots complete with spurs. If you think the pumpkin needs a little something extra, a cowboy hanging from the tip of a boot is a fitting addition. If that's too complicated, simply carve the hat above the boots or off to the side of them. - No cowboy or cowgirl would be complete without a horse. This carving can be done of an entire horse or even just the profile of a horse's head. If you want to take your pumpkin carving to the next level, try carving a cowboy riding horseback.
- Make a pumpkin representing the desert landscape of the West. To create your dessert scene all you really need is one large cactus surrounded on each side by a smaller one. This simple design is easy to carve out.
- To add an element of good luck to your assortment of pumpkins, make one with a large horseshoe. This is another easy design because a horseshoe is a simple but easily recognizable shape and it can be the central theme of the entire pumpkin. Though it's basic, it does fit with the Western theme perfectly.
