Whether you are an expert biker or not, when you're in The Alps, MTB (mountain biking) is sure to inspire with events coming up this summer. There is plenty to see, do and take part in for groups, friends and lone bikers - not to mention meeting the local riders who can share stories about great tracks and sites.

Chatel Slopestyle
Witness the world's best freeriders battling it out on a steep mountain slope. Regardless of the jumps and drops in The Alps, MTB action keeps the audience enthralled with anticipation. If the excitement is all too much, spectators can go for a scenic walk alongside the track, which will bring them even closer to the action. Onlookers can also watch the bikers battling it out on the big screens available on location for a relaxed, distant view of the Chantel Slopestyle.

Passport du Soleil
A great way to start the Alps MTB summer season is by hopping on board the lift assisted 50-mile freeride tour of the region. If bikers want in on the action they can compete in different circuits, some of which last a day and some that continue over the weekend for the more enthusiastic riders. Some of the trails include hill climbing, huge descents and traverses, providing a nice mix of activities for groups and couples. This also gives riders a chance to absorb the scenery around them as well as the action that lies ahead.

French Mountain Bike Championships
The French Mountain Bike Championships usually take place in July each year. 2012 saw Les Gets host the Championships in XC, Trials and Downhill. The anticipation of the crowd is infectious and the atmosphere of the competition is wonderful to be a part of. As well as the championships being great entertainment it could also give rise, or inspire, a future champion.

Friends and Fun
If you're planning a summer in The Alps, MTB with friends, regardless of biking experience, is an activity that can't be beaten. There are routes suitable for any level - beginner, intermediate and expert. Getting together to watch the Chatel Slopestyle, or giving your group of friends a goal like completing a circuit at Passport du Soleil - whatever you choose, exciting times are ahead.

If you are in search of a summer full of action and enjoyment in The Alps, MTB may be an option for you. It could give rise to a new favourite destination to create new stories and adventure, not to mention open your eyes to some inspiring events.
