Accutane Drug Uses
- Accutane combats acne by reducing the formation of sebum, or oil, on the face. When the face is oily it is more prone to acne breakouts because the oil can become clogged in the pores.
- When acne is not treated properly and on time, it can get worse, becoming cyst-like or nodular and leaving permanent scars on the face. Accutane is helpful in the treatment of nodular acne.
- Accutane is useful for the cure of rosacea, which is a skin infection caused by broken blood vessels. Here the face, mostly the nose and surrounding area, gets covered with eruptions.
- Accutane is useful in the treatment of inflammation or eruption caused by hair follicles containing bacteria. These are seen mostly in the sweat gland areas.
- According to Mayo Clinic, Accutane is only prescribed when other treatment options, including tetracycline, minocycline and benzoyl peroxide applications, show no results.
