DIY Kids Costumes
- One easy do-it-yourself costume is a bumblebee costume. For this costume, all you need is a yellow T-shirt, black electrical tape, a thin headband, two brown pipe cleaners, two yellow pom-poms and glue. First, take the yellow shirt and place the black tape in horizontal stripes across the entire front of the shirt, from the top to the bottom hem. Then, take the headband and wrap the bottom of the brown pipe cleaners around the top of the headband. Thereafter, glue the pom-poms to the ends of the pipe cleaners. Now the costume is complete, with the bumblebee shirt and the antennas.
- Another do-it-yourself costume is a lamb costume. For this costume, you need a body suit in black or pink, tights in black or pink, two bags of cotton balls, fabric glue, a thin headband, felt in pink and black and scissors. First, take the body suit and adhere the cotton balls all over the front of the body suit with the fabric glue. Allow this to dry for at least 6 hours. Meanwhile, cut triangular pieces of the felt for the ears. Glue the pieces together and then attach the ears to the headband. Put matching tights on the little lamb and you are done.
- For a fireman, all you need is a red fireman jacket, hat and boots. Red fireman jackets are now available as raincoats at both large stores, such as Target or Kmart, and at smaller stores. The hat can be purchased at a party supply store and the child can wear any kind of boots.
