How to Take an Acrylic Paint Stain Off a T- Shirt
- 1). Spread the T-shirt out on a smooth table or board.
- 2). Scrape dried chunks of paint from the T-shirt, using a plastic putty knife. Be sure the putty knife is plastic; don't use one made of metal as the sharp flat edge may tear the cloth.
- 3). Open the container of turpentine and pour one gallon into a plastic 5-gallon bucket. Be sure the bucket is clean and free from any dried paint residue; turpentine will liquefy dried paint and cause more stains if the bucket isn't clean.
- 4). Place the entire T-shirt inside the bucket. Let the turpentine soak into the fabric for 10 minutes.
- 5). Put on a pair of rubber gloves. Lift the T-shirt from the turpentine and massage the paint stain from the fabric. Repeatedly dip the t-shirt into the turpentine until it is free from paint.
- 6). Wring out the turpentine and place the T-shirt on a flat wooden board outdoors under direct sunlight. Wait 30 minutes to an hour for the turpentine to evaporate.
- 7). Wash the T-shirt in your washing machine.
