    • 1). Start with the colored or patterned side of your paper facing downward on the table and the plain side of your paper facing upward and exposed on the table.

    • 2). Fold your paper square in half on the diagonal into a triangle shape in order to create a diagonal crease in your paper. Unfold the paper.

    • 3). Fold the opposite side of your paper square in half on the diagonal into another triangle shape in order to create an opposing diagonal crease. Unfold the paper to reveal creases in the shape of an "X."

    • 4). Fold each corner of your square into the center of your "X" crease, lining up the point of each corner to the center of the "X." You should now have a smaller square made up of four triangle-shaped folds.

    • 5). Repeat the previous step's folds two more times to create an even smaller square made up of four triangle folds.

    • 6). Flip your square over.

    • 7). Fold each outside corner of you square into the center.

    • 8). Tuck the outside corners of the square inward so that the tips just fold over the top of the square and point towards the center.

    • 9). Anchor one of the corners with your thumb and with your other hand carefully pull the attached triangle from the back of the origami square over the front of the corner piece. As you pull the attached triangle tip from the back over the front, the folds will force the triangle into the shape of a petal. Repeat on remaining three sides.

Repeat the pulling-over method with the remaining four triangles on the back of the origami square. Pull each triangle tip over the top of the square, anchoring with your thumb, to form four more petals.

    • 11

Fold the final four triangles on the back of the origami square gently outward to form the final four outer petals.
