Causes Of Hairloss in Males
In fact, almost all men experience hair loss at some point in their lives.
The amount of hair that is lost and at what age the loss begins varies from person to person.
There are many different things believed to cause male hair loss.
Some are preventable and some are not.
Researchers have come up with numerous reason for hair loss and still have only scratched the surface.
The most common cause of male hairloss is Androgenetic alopecia.
It is a genetic disposition that accounts for 95% of hair loss in men.
It causes the hair on top of the head to have a genetic sensitivity to the male hormone testosterone, or DHT.
The hair on the sides and back of the scalp are not affected and do not fall out, which causes the hair on top to fall out in a pattern, thus the term male pattern baldness.
Alopecia areata is also a cause of male hair loss.
It is an immune system disorder which simply causes the hair follicles to stop producing hairs.
Other, less common causes exist, one of them is know as Telogen effluvium.
Basically, sudden stress causes the hair growth to slow, hair follicles are forced into a resting period, once this period is over, the hair is than shed.
Nutritional deficiencies can also cause hairloss in men.
Men who have vitamin C and/or vitamin D deficiencies have far weaker immune systems then those who do not, which leaves them more succeptable to immune system disorders that may cause hair loss.
The causes for hairloss in men are numerous and can be very complicated or very simple.
Hair loss from stress or nutritional deficiencies can often be treated and their effects reversed.
Genetic dispositions are much harder to treat and their are no known cures.
