Ruins is a word used to describe the remains of man-made architecture. These are remains of something that has become partly or mostly destroyed. Visiting the ruins gives you the chance to imagine the lives of the ancient people who lived there. The structures simply tell stories about what was life like and also about the unique cultural aspects of their civilization. Ruins can be caused by wars or by natural disasters such as earthquakes, fires and volcanoes. Historic ruins are often a good place for historians, archaeologists and anthropologists, to determine what events occurred to such place.
Mayan Ruins of Tulum are astounding site to behold. It is one of the best-preserved coastal Maya sites, and the third most-visited archeological spot in Mexico. Its proximity to the modern tourism developments along the Mexican Caribbean coastline has made it a popular destination for tourists. The Tulum ruins are located on a cliff top overlooking a stunning beach and Sea. They are about 80 miles south of Cancun and 35 miles from Playa del Carmen. The site is easily accessible from the highway and it is not hard to explore.
The archeological ruins at Tulum have a number of excellently well preserved structures and buildings to explore and the scenery is outstanding. One of the main buildings is called El Castillo (the Castle); it has a fantastic vantage point directly above Tulum beach and the Caribbean Sea below. The Castillo, sometimes referred to as the lighthouse, is the tallest building at Tulum and considered to be the most famous. It was a temple and fortress. Tulum basically has three sections: the town, the hotel zone, and lastly the Mayan Ruins which is the archaeological site. Tulum can get crowded and hot, so it is best to visit in the morning before the cruise boat and bus groups arrive. It is easy to get buses to the ruin entrance and there is parking for a minimal fee. If you consider staying in Tulum for a vacation; there are a lot of Tulum hotels you can choose from. A vacation in Tulum is all about escaping the all high technologies of the world, also allowing you to get back to nature. After you have explored the ruins, you have the chance to go snorkeling in the crystal clear Caribbean Sea.
