ROME BY NIGHT

FOUNTAINS

The tour begins with the Trevi Fountain made famous after the Fellini's movie "La dolce vita".
It was built in 1732 by Nicola Salvi and inaugurated in the year 1762. Make sure you throw a coin in to ensure a return to Rome! This walking tour continues through the centre of Rome's political arena where the Chigi Palace houses the Government of Italy in Colonna Square It is so called because of the Column of Marcus Aurelius Emperor. Montecitorio is the seat of the Chamber of Deputies (House of Commons) and Madama Palace is the seat of the Italian Senate that constitutes the Parliament of Italy. There is a worthwhile stop at the Pantheon, erected by Hadrian Emperor in the 120 AD which preserves the widest Dome in the world. After this, the tour reaches Navona Square where you'll see the ruins of the ancient Domitian's Stadium and the famous 'Fountain of the Four Rivers', which is a stunning Bernini masterpiece.

IMPERIAL ROME

As the name suggests, this tour takes in all the Imperial grandeur of Rome and some of its most iconic sights. First on the agenda is the Colosseum, built by two emperors of the Flavian family. Following the Colosseum, in the same square, you can admire the Arch of Constantine and the Arch of Titus. The walk then continues through the Roman Forum, the biggest archaeological area in the world just, right in the heart of Rome. Arriving on the top of the Capitole Hill you'll see the beautiful square designed by Michelangelo with the Palazzo Conservatori and the Palazzo Nuovo which are now important Museums. The end of the tour heads to Piazza Venezia where you can gaze in awe at the Vittoriano which is Europe's largest monument.

VATICAN MUSEUMS

The complex of the Vatican Museums is unique and incredible to see; located in the independent state of Vatican City. During your tour of the Vatican museums you'll be able to see antiques from candelabras, ancient tapestries, geographical maps, and the Immaculate Conception Room. It then continues to the famous School of Athens inside the Rooms of Raphael which were painted by the artist between 1508 and 1520. The Sistine Chapel, centre of the Conclaves, is the next stop with its divine frescos of the Genesis and the Last Judgment by Michelangelo himself. The Sistine Chapel is one of the most famous artistic treasures in the Vatican City, in fact in the world.

It is recommended that you try to schedule your Tour of Vatican Museums for 1:00/1:30 p.m. in order to avoid crowds. Please note however, that there are often long queues to get in!

SAINT PETER BASILICA

No trip to Rome is complete without a visit to the Basilica of Saint Peter. The scale and sheer architectural magnitude is astonishing. This is the greatest Basilica in the World. Admire the Piet of Michelangelo, the body exposed to the adoration of Pope Giovanni XXIII's believers, the magnificent mosaics and works of great artists, the canopy in bronze and works of Gian Lorenzo Bernini. The tour then continues with a visit into the Vatican Crypt. Besides guarding the tomb of Saint Peter, it also guards the graves of numerous pontiffs, among them John Paul II. The Crypt is also rich in works of art. The tour concludes in the centre of the stunning Saint Peter's Square built by Gian Lorenzo Bernini himself, in 1661.

TRASTEVERE NIGHT WALK

See one of the most important areas of the Eternal City, Trastevere. Literally translated it means 'Across the River'. Visit an enchanting section of Rome rarely explored by other travellers and tourists. Trastevere is a neighbourhood dating back to the third century BC and was later reconstructed in the twelfth century AD. In Trastevere, little has changed since those times. This tour takes you to Gianicolo Hill for a glass or two of delicious wine and the best views the city has to offer. After a brief history lesson of the Italian unification you'll take a casual stroll through the narrow and charming streets of this medieval part of the city and stop for dinner in one of Trastevere's many authentic Italian restaurants. The tour concludes with a guide to some of the most important and beautiful squares in Rome like the Piazza Garibaldi, Piazza Navona and the Campo De' Fiori.
