How to Make an Outdoor Area for Daycare
Instructions
1Inspect your yard. Try to find an area that incorporates both cement and level ground. That way, day care kids can enjoy a variety of outdoor activities.
2
Remove any sticks or rocks embedded in the yard that could pose a tripping hazard or other dangers to the kids.
3
Take out any plants that may pose a health hazard to the daycare kids. You want just a traditional, grassy lawn for the kids to enjoy.
4
Create a boundary by installing a fence, or using portable baby fencing or orange cones to close off the area where the daycare kids can play when outdoors.
5
Set up toys for the kids to enjoy while outdoors, like a small swing set, a slide and a sandbox. Make sure the toys are secured to the ground and won't tip over and that they're leveled.
6
Add smaller toys to help the daycare kids make the most of their time outside, like riding toys, bouncing balls and sandbox shovels, pails and trucks.
7
Shade the area where the kids will play by choosing a location that's naturally shaded or by adding large umbrellas. You can also schedule your outdoor time so the spot is shaded by the structure of the home.
