Once the inflatables have arrived, hopefully you have somewhere to store them like a garage or shed.
If not then ask around as there will probably be someone you know who can rent you one on the cheap.
Always place the castles on wooden pallets which will allow the air to circulate beneath them and the water to drip away should they get wet.
The Phone Call: Although you may get some enquiries via email, it's always prudent to actually talk to your customers over the phone.
For starters they are far more likely to book there and then, secondly you can check that they have the required space and most importantly of all, you have the opportunity to sell yourself.
Using the phone properly requires practice but there are some general tips that will help guide you to building a successful business:-
  • Where possible, be available to actually answer the phone rather than letting it go to an answering machine.
People are generally impatient and want to make a deal quickly rather than wait for you to ring back.
The chances are you have a lot of competition so treat every call like gold.
If you have to go out then divert the phone to you're mobile.
This may cost you a little extra but one booking a month, that you may have missed, will more than pay for the feature.
  • Be polite, helpful and upbeat.
    Enthusiasm sells bundles.
Don't go over the top and sound like an idiot but the majority of customers like a bit of a joke.
They have probably seen the castles and prices from you're website so all they now need to know is how reliable and trustworthy you are.
    Good manners cost nothing!
  • Know your stuff.
This will become fluent in time but do your homework or have the information accessible.
    For example measurements.
Someone may want to hold the party in a hall and need to know the height of the castle.
Others may want to know what happens if it rains? Practice on family and friends before you go live, particularly handling questions or objections.
Never argue with a customer as the quote goes, "win the argument, lose the sale".
  • Get ready to be flexible.
You are just starting so if you have to drop your price a bit then so be it.
People are extremely price sensitive in this economic climate so let them think they are getting a good deal.
Each party is a goldmine of potential clients and word of mouth is without a doubt the most powerful form of advertising.
  • Bend over backwards to deliver the castle when they want it, within reason.
In fact if possible, give them more time than they want.
  • Finally, once the deal is done, be thorough in taking down all the necessary details including name, address, ages of children, times of party, agreed time of delivery and collection, contact telephone numbers, grass or concrete and are there any difficulties in erecting the inflatable e.

jumping over hurdles to get into the backyard!
I know this may appear like common sense to most of you but that extra piece of effort on the phone will make your life much easier in the long run.
