Children's parties are exciting events, but trying to fulfill a child's expectations can be expensive and stressful. Superheros are popular among children and are often used as party themes. There are many superhero specific party items available at party stores, but by being creative you can stick to your child's desired theme without breaking your budget. - Children can use their imaginations by dressing up, so making your superhero party a costume party will make for instant party conversation. In the invitation, ask each attendee to dress as his or her favorite superhero or to dress as one of the characters in a specific superhero story. If you want to provide further direction to attendees, address each invitation to a specific character instead of the child so they know which hero to dress as.
- If your child wants a party with a specific superhero theme, you will want the party space to be decorated to reinforce and add to the theme. Keep the party decorating budget under control by decorating using the superhero's color scheme as opposed to decorations that use the actual superhero. For example, decorate for a Batman-themed party using yellow and black decorations. You can find yellow and black streamers, balloons, napkins and dishes to reinforce the theme.
- Let party food add to the superhero themed ambiance. You do not need to make special food, just attach a tag to each dish with a creative name. For example, hamburgers could be called "muscle burgers" and vegetable dip could be named "power dip." Decorate desserts to correspond with the theme either in shape or color. Renaming your party food will make traditional party food interesting and might even get kids to eat healthy food they would not ordinarily eat.
- Children's parties can be difficult to keep under control, but allowing each child to create his own superhero is a creative, yet relatively quiet, children's party activity. Using a large roll of paper, have children take turns laying on the paper and tracing each others' outlines. Cut out the outlines and provide the children with decorative materials and glue to make themselves into the superhero of their dreams. Decorative items such as beads, glitter, markers, crayons and feathers are easy items to use creatively.
