How to Install a Parent Control Bar on Firefox
- 1). Download ProCon Latte (see Resources). ProCon Latte filters Web usage depending on the text that appears on the website. It features password protection so that it cannot be deactivated by others. ProCon Latte features a pre-selection of words, and you can add your own. You can also add safe sites to the whitelist.
- 2). Download FoxFilter (see Resources). FoxFilter has been called "THE parental control for Firefox." FoxFilter uses various methods to block inappropriate Internet usage rather than just a keyword list. All settings are password protected. This extension is free; however, a premium version is available if you require support.
- 3). Download "LeechBlock" (see Resources). LeechBlock blocks certain Web addresses only. Unlike the previous two extensions, LeechBlock does not include a preset list of websites or keywords to block. LeechBlock is a solution only if you wish to block certain websites. LeechBlock is designed as an anti-distraction tool that has the option to block websites during certain time periods. Clearly, LeechBlock can be used as a temporary parental control application.
