How to Share Your MacBook Pro Webcam With Anyone
- 1). Launch the iChat application from the Dock or the Applications folder.
- 2). Set up a video chat account if you have not already done so. iChat can use your existing account on MobileMe, AIM, Yahoo! or Google Talk, and can also use networks that support the Jabber protocol such as Facebook.
- 3). Give out your video chat username to anyone whom you wish to access your feed. If you literally mean that you wish to share your webcam with "anyone," publish your username on a blog, Twitter, Facebook or other public forum.
- 4). Accept incoming chat requests when they come in through iChat. At this point, you will need to manually accept every incoming request. If you wish to automate this so that all incoming requests are allowed, continue to the next step.
- 5). Launch the AppleScript Editor application in /Applications/Utilities. In the new blank window, type exactly the following:
tell application "iChat" to accept every chat
Then click the "Compile" button. If this text has been entered correctly, some words will change formatting automatically. Save this script on your hard drive. - 6). Click on the iChat window and open "Preferences..." under the iChat menu. Click on the "Alerts" tab. Select the event "Video Invitation" from the Event drop menu, then click the checkbox "Run an AppleScript script." Click on the script drop menu and select the script you saved in step five. This script will now automatically provide a video feed to any incoming video chat request.
