The former Saint Joseph's Institution was set up by Father Jean-Marie Beural on 1st May 1852 at Bras Basah Road which was originally built as a chapel after which it was converted into a school for boys. Ever since then the school has been going through many renovation projects throughout the years which resulted in the Saint Joseph's Institution growing more in stature and importance. The beautiful verandas that run along the length of the building were added to the structure in the year 1910 and are a unique feature of this institution.
