How to Edit the Registry Backup
- 1). Click the "Start" and select "Run." This will open the "Run" window.
- 2). Type in "regedit" (minus the quotation marks) and click "OK." This will open the Registry Editor.
- 3). Click on "File," then select "Export."
- 4). Name this file "Original." It is your current registry file. Select a convenient location, and then click "Save."
- 5). Return to the Registry Editor and edit the registry. The iteration of the registry you see before you may now be edited in order to create your edited backup. Editing the registry is an act that should only be undertaken if you are familiar with its workings.
- 6). Click on "File" and "Export" again once you are finished editing the registry. Save the file to a convenient location, naming it "Backup."
- 7). Click on "File" and "Import." Select your registry file entitled "Original." This will re-load your original registry file.
