    Amalfi Coast

    • There are many appropriate beaches on the Amalfi Coast, which is just south of Naples. The mountain-set towns of Amalfi, Ravello, Salerno, Minori and Positano overlook the water and offer spectacular views. Capri and Sorrento are famous islands reached easily by boat from the coast. No matter what location you choose, you'll be married in a medieval setting. The downside to this region is that tourism and prices are high. You should avoid having your wedding here during the high season (July and August).

    Italian Riviera

    • Head to Italy's west coast along the water, where the setting will be ideal for a wedding whether you choose a fishing village or fancy resort. The towns of Rapallo, Santa Margherita, Portofino, Positano, Portovenere and Cinque Terre are available for destination weddings by the sea.

    Islands

    • Italy boasts some of the finest islands in Europe. If you want to plant your feet in white sandy swathes of beach during your ceremony, the Emerald Coast of Sardinia will accommodate you. Sicily, with its unique culture and varied landscapes, offers additional options such as luxurious Taormina. The Aeolian Islands are volcanic, providing a variety of different types of beaches to choose from. If you prefer a rocky coastline, look into Isola d'Elba.

    Lake District

    • The gorgeous lakes of Italy are an inland option for a beach wedding. This region includes castles, and there are plenty of resorts to accommodate you and your guests. The lakes are Garda, Como, Maggiore and Orta, each with their own unique features and special surrounding towns.

    Practicalities

    • There are a number of important things you will need to know about a destination wedding in Italy. You and your guests will need the appropriate visas and passports in order to enter the country. Paperwork will take at least a few days, so you will need to arrange to be in Italy for the requisite number of days depending on where you are getting married. You will also be required to have an interpreter present at the ceremony. There may be restrictions on civil and/or religious ceremonies in certain areas. A number of companies operate in Italy specifically to provide destination-wedding services to couples from all over the world, and you may wish to seek the help of one of these companies so that you don't leave out any important details.
