How to Join Wood Trim

    • 1). Use your drill and pilot bit to put pilot holes through each piece of corner block moulding. Drill two holes through each side that will face outward.

    • 2). Place a drilled block in one corner where trim will meet (on the floor, ceiling or off the corner of a doorway or window opening). Use your level to make sure the block is standing completely straight. Drive trim nails through the block with your hammer, putting on nail for each pilot hole.

    • 3). Do the same thing at each corner of the project, setting all the blocks in place.

    • 4). Measure the distance between two of the blocks, measuring from the inside edge of both. Use your miter saw to cut a piece of wood trim to that measurement, making the cut 90 degrees straight across the width of the trim.

    • 5). Place the wood trim between the two blocks, with the ends of the trim butting up to the sides of the blocks. The bottom of the trim should line up with the bottoms of the blocks.

    • 6). Nail in the trim, using your hammer to drive trim nails through the wall. Repeat for each section between the blocks.
