How to Make Candles from Dripless Wax
- 1). Melt the beeswax in a double boiler. Place the beeswax chunks into an empty, clean coffee can. Place the coffee can into the top of the double boiler. Pour water into the bottom of the double boiler, filling it 1/3 to 1/2 way up. Bring the water to a boil on the stove on medium heat, stirring the beeswax as it melts with a wooden spoon. Do not allow the wax to boil or scorch. Remove the coffee can once the beeswax has completely melted using a potholder. Place the coffee can on a flat surface.
- 2). Dip the ends of the candle wick into the wax. Hold the candle wick in the middle, letting the ends to hang freely on either side of your hand. Dip one end into the beeswax for 2 seconds, then dip the other side for 2 seconds. Wait 1 to 2 minutes before dipping again. Dip each side for another 2 seconds, waiting another 1 to 2 minutes in between again. Repeat this process until the candle width is as thick as you want it to be. Be careful not to touch the candles to each other, or they will stick.
- 3). Cool the candles and burn. Place the middle of the candle wick onto a banister or a tree branch, and allow the candles to hang there. Avoid letting them touch together. Wait until the candles are completely cool before using them. When you are ready to burn the candles, snip the candles apart with a pair of scissors, then trim the wick of each candle to a length of 1/4 inch. Place each candle in a candle holder, and light them using a lighter or matches. Place the candles out of the reach of children and away from flammable cloth or liquids. You will now be able to enjoy the glow of pure beeswax, drip-free candles.
