How Many Square Feet of Tile Are Needed to Cover the Floor?
- Measure the length of your room with a tape measurer in inches. It's always better to round up so you have extra than to round down and end up not having enough to complete the project. For this example, use 132 inches (11 feet).
- Measure the width of your room. Like the length, round up to the nearest inch and add an inch or two if you want extra. In this example, the width measures 96 inches (8 feet).
- Multiply the length by the width of your room. Eight times 11 equals 88 square feet. You need 88 square feet of tile to complete your room project.
- Take note of any shapes or outlets in your room. If you have a wall that juts out, you may want to split your room into two separate squares, measure them separately and add the dimensions together.
