How to Make a Jacket for a Toasting Flute
- 1). Cut a rectangle of fabric to about 5 inches tall and 2 inches wide.
- 2). Cut two pieces of elastic to about 2 inches long each.
- 3). Place one of the elastic pieces at one of the 2-inch-long sides of the fabric rectangle. Fold the fabric over the elastic and sew a line at the bottom of the fold, so the elastic is secured inside the fabric.
- 4). Repeat Step 3 at the other 2-inch-long side of the fabric.
- 5). Fold the fabric in half width-wise so it is now about 1-inch wide. Sew a line along the long end of the fold that is open, so you have a tube of fabric.
- 6). Turn the tube of fabric inside out so the rough edges of the sewing are on the inside and the outside only has clean, smooth edges. Pull the tube over the top of a champagne flute, down to the handle part of the glass.
