Gout cures are a welcome idea for many gout sufferers.
Gout attacks their wrists, elbows, toes, joints and other parts of their bodies.
The pain varies depending on the severity of the gout.
Gout causes are still being researched and the study is not conclusive.
However, gout develops when your kidneys produces an excess of Uric Acid as far as it is known.
A study was conducted in Spain in 2003 on 12 youths where they were given orange juice at various time intervals.
When the study was over the results showed that the orange juice lowered uric acid levels significantly.
To beat gout you must aggressively reduce the uric levels in your body.
Most people know that orange juice has an abundance of Vitamins C.
However, very few people know by how much a glass of orange juice will add to their vitamin C level and how long it takes for that to occur in their bodies.
This study revealed the extent to which it raises blood vitamin C levels in the body and the rate at which it does that.
Here are the numbers: On the first day six men and six women drank two glasses of orange juice.
They continued this exercise for the next two weeks drinking a glass in the morning and a glass in the evening.
This exercise gave them an amount of vitamin C equivalent to 500 ml a day.
It is actually twice the daily requirement.
So, each received an additional 250 mg of vitamin C daily.
Here is the breakdown: The men received 386 mg of vitamin C.
The women received 362 mg of Vitamin C.
These numbers represent only a third of vitamin C dietary supplement preparations available for sale in the public stores, which is 1000 mg.
After the two week period of this natural gout remedy the men's serum blood vitamin C level rose by 52% and the women's rose by 22%.
The women were given a higher amount of vitamin C when they started the study.
The Uric Acid Reductions Gout suffers were glad to hear of the results.
After the two weeks of testing the men reduced their uric acid levels approximately12.
5% and the women by approximately 6.
5%.
However, the baseline for the women on the uric acid level testing was much lower than the men.
In the end, each participant had reduced the UA level significantly.

Lessons Learned The Uric acid reductions were excellent given that the study was only for two weeks and the additional vitamin C was 250 mg per day.
Based on the study it is reasonable to expect that if the test subjects continued with the orange juice intake for six months or more the UA levels would drop thus preventing the gout attacks.
Drinking the juice for longer terms could produce better results.
Keep in mind that these subjects were youths between 20 and 32 years old who were healthy.
However, if you suffer from gout the results may vary.
Using drug medications, these reductions in uric acid would be lower.
The oranges testing would only be helpful for those who have gout at normal or slightly above UA levels.
On the other hand, you could hardly call orange juice a drug medication.
Researchers do not know why vitamin C lowered uric acid levels.
One hypothesis is that the Vitamin C stimulated the kidneys to secrete more uric acid.
Since orange juice has a high content of potassium which has an alkalizing effect on minerals and thus raises the pH or alkaline levels in the body, which is what your body needs, the combined effect of both the vitamin C and the potassium diminishes the gout problem.
Also, since orange juice contains certain flavonoids which help Vitamin C in its absorption and retention capabilities the combined effect is promising for gout sufferers.
You should note that many vitamin C dietary supplements do not contain these flavonoids, or are not sufficient, although some do.
The Orange Juice Perfect for Gout Sufferers The juice used in this study was fresh squeezed orange juice.
This is the juice squeezed from raw, fresh oranges.
It was not from orange juice concentrate and nothing else was added.
It is interesting to note that Vitamin C in fresh juice degrades over time.
It is best to make your own freshly squeezed orange juice and drink it quickly.
The longer you leave it open or exposed after squeezing it the faster it will lose its potency.
In summary, it is better to use 500 mg vitamin C daily.
Gout cures by drinking orange juice is also considered as part of your daily water target.
Drinking lots of water is also recommended for treating gout.
