If the Desire is There Then Environmental Improvements in Africa Could Happen Reasonably Quickly

Canada is hosting the G8 and G20 international leaders to discuss action on development and climate change and the global economy.
The earliest news today is that the moneys which some nation pledged to give over these past few years has not been given, and the question needs to be asked as to why! O, they say that because of the financial crisis around the world this has not been possible.
Perhaps if they had given the aid they had promised there would not have been such an extremely serious financial crisis.
Judgment can be experienced or avoided.
It all depends upon what choices people make, and that applies to an individual or a family or a nation.
There is a God who hears what we say and who is aware of what we promise and pledge, but if one were to mention Almighty God and Jesus Christ in the forums of these leaders, one would either be silenced or laughed out of court.
Why has the aid not been given, and I do not mean by that sending money, but by sending people to lead and serve, and seed, and drainage pipes, and school books for education and jotters for boys and girls who desperately want to study.
Having been in Uganda and Kenya I am aware of the desire which many children have to attend school and learn and work hard to improve their national condition.
We must never forget that the economic and climate crises always hit the poor the hardest.
We need bold action and there does not appear to be the leadership in the nations to exercise such bold action.
We will never make poverty history.
That was a catchy but silly slogan.
Poverty will only become history when Jesus Christ returns.
Then, and only then, will there be no more corruption and greed and selfishness and the sinful lining of one's own pockets.
Of course, many do not believe in sin, but it is the actions of sinful men which causes such poverty.
How many years ago is it since the then Prime Minister spoke about the needs in Africa and what has been accomplished and achieved by throwing money at some issues? Having been involved in a water project in Kenya over these past six months, the problems are not as dire as at first thought, if the money is given to people who can be trusted to produce the goods.
For £1,200 or $1,600 a well can be sunk and people provided with clean clear water, if the desire is there to alleviate the suffering and the having to walk four miles a day to carry water for your family's needs.
Drainage pipes could be easily laid in some of the slum areas, with local men being usefully employed to work under the leadership of those who knew what they were doing and why they were doing it.
We appear to have more and more of these expensive and massive Conferences, but so little appears to be done in the environmental front line.
If the big donors would stop giving money, then much of the bribery and corruption might disappear.
If the heart is there, the work can be done.
If politicians in positions of leadership and responsibility acted with integrity and honesty certain improvements could be accomplished and achieved before the next major Conference.
Have we any such leaders? There are organisations who are able to do the work if only the aid was channelled in a better way, and I have been connected with one of these organisations for some thirty years.
