Vacation Home Rental Agreements
- A vacation home rental agreement should include the address of the property being rented, the dates and times that the renter will have access to the property, age and maximum occupancy rules, payment policies, checkout procedures, cancellation policies and the rules associated with the property, such as rules regarding pets, smoking and pool or utility use. If the property is located in an area where hurricanes or storms may occur, a clause may be added that allows for cancellations or refunds if there is a mandatory evacuation.
- If you own a vacation rental home, you should have a lawyer look over your rental agreement to be sure that it is in compliance with all applicable laws. Also, make sure that your agreement complies with all rules and covenants that may be specific to your home's location, such as a homeowner's or condominium association.
- Both the property owner and the renter should sign and date the agreement and both parties should keep a copy.
