Why You Should Avoid Low-Fat Cookies
Thanks to all of the recent health concerns, many manufacturers are using it as a chance to dig into your pocketbook by offering snacks that are supposed to be lower in fat.
While we love the idea of a healthier lifestyle we don't love the idea of giving up our favorite treats.
So we turn to the food industry for help.
We put our trust into their products and believe that they are good for us.
Unfortunately that's not the reality.
The real truth is snacks like our favorite low-fat cookies are no better than the regular ones, and more times than not they are actually unhealthy.
Sure they may be lower in fat, but that has to be made up for somehow.
To keep that cookie from tasting bland, high fructose corn syrup, sugar and artificial sweeteners are often used in replace of the fat.
So that cookie is actually loaded with calories and man made chemical additives.
Aside from putting dangerous chemicals into your body, all of that sugar turns into fat and that alone can make you gain weight! And have you ever had a sugar high? We've all been guilty of stuffing our faces with fatty sweets and no even realizing we're doing it until it's too late.
We feel full of energy for a few hours until it wears off and then suddenly we're tired and end up with a blah feeling for the rest of the day.
But, sugar isn't the only unhealthy ingredient in the food industry's version of a healthier cookie.
Many of the unhealthy versions are also made with white flour.
White flour is highly processed wheat that is stripped of its barley and germ, two nutrients that are essential in our diet.
Eating processed foods is simply bad.
Processed food is the reason America is obese with diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure.
It is the reason we are killing ourselves without a thought.
We need foods that are all natural and unprocessed so that your body doesn't feel blah or slow down and age before its time.
We need to be eating foods that are not conveniences or prepackaged.
If you want a convenience food, grab an orange or some grapes.
If you must have low-fat cookies in your diet, opt for making your own.
That way you know what ingredients are going into it.
And if you want it prepackaged, make enough for future snacking and put them in a cookie jar.
There are no real reasons for not being able to live a healthier lifestyle.
Only excuses.
