Vista Problems With Trend Micro AntiVirus
- Trend Micro AntiVirus functions as the second level of security on computer, working closely with appliance or application based firewall, which is the first level of security. If you accidentally approve a Firewall Security Alert and allow a cybercriminal access to your computer, then the Trend Micro AntiVirus when working properly should stop any malicious software from installing. However, when used with Microsoft Vista, there have been known conflicts that have caused security breaches to occur.
- When using Vista 64x, Trend Micro AntiVirus may have issues finding the Windows Installer. This is caused by an outdated version of Windows Installer, and it is easy to fix. Go to Microsoft.com and click on "Support" in the search bar type "windows installer for vista 64." This will bring up the current version for download. Once installed, you will need to take the following actions before installing the current version of Trend Micro AntiVirus. Click "Start," then select "Search." In the search box type "msiexec /unreg" (make sure there is a 'SPACE' between msiexec and /unreg), chick "ok." When the process stops, click "Start," then select "Search." In the Search Box type "msiexec /regserver" (remember to be sure that there is a "SPACE" between msiexec and /regserver).
- When upgrading to Microsoft Vista, you may run into issues re-installing Trend Micro AntiVirus. This issue is because the Trend Micro software is flagging multiple installs. When you see the "Transfer Protection From Another Computer" screen appear, click the username of the computer you are reinstalling the software on. In step 2 on the screen, type a new username; do not use the same one. Confirm your choice and click "Finish." Now your Trend Micro AntiVirus should install with ease.
- Trend Micro has been a strategic partner with Microsoft since 2003, and it provides in-depth security updates to Microsoft through TrendLabs. This strategic partnership allows few problems to go unresolved. When an error occurs, both Trend Micro and Microsoft tech teams are notified. When an issue occurs, you will see an Error Window pop-up on your computer desktop. When this happens, click "Send Report," as this notifies the Microsoft Vista tech team of the error.
- Keep Cybercriminal Out
In the busy rush of things, computer users have a tendency to ignore error messages, especially when using a Microsoft-based operating system. Error messages are early warning signs that cybercriminals may have attacked your computer, or penetrated the security installed to some extent. Take all error messages seriously and actively follow through with finding solutions to eliminate the error message. You want to do this before your system crashes or a cybercriminal takes full control. - Protect Your Kids From Hackers
Cybercriminals have become far more sophisticated and stealth with the development of faster processors and easier access to broadband connections. It is wise to use two or three different security vendors to insure that you can stop the majority of hackers from penetrating your system. Do your research, and find the best vendor in the following areas of security: firewalls, antivirus, antispyware, encryption and off-site data backup.
