  Richlands is a small town located in southwestern Virgina. It is in the heart of the Appalachia area, which has plenty of points of historical interest. Outdoor activities also abound in this area. Among the nearby parks are the Jefferson National Forest, the Clinch Mountain Reserve and the Cavitt's Creek Park/Lake J. Witten Recreational area.
