How Can I Learn About God?

    • 1). Talk to your local priest, pastor, imam, clergyman or religious leader. Ask him how he found God and how he now understands God. Then ask him how you can learn more about God and feel more connected to him.

    • 2). Go to the bookstore and browse the books on God, religion and spirituality. Select one or more to buy and read at home. Discuss the ideas you encounter with someone close to you. Did the ideas resonate with you? Did you learn more about God? Or did you think that the author's ideas were incorrect? If so, why? If you don't have someone close to you with whom you can discuss religious matters, then sign up for an online religion forum and discuss the books and the ideas about God there.

    • 3). Engage in some prayer, meditation or private reflection on the nature of God. You could go to a church, a synagogue, a temple, a mosque, an interfaith religious center, a quiet outdoor spot or even a quiet room in your own house; it doesn't really matter. The important thing is to listen to yourself and listen to God. If you wish, try a prayer aid to focus your thoughts, such as a rosary for Catholics or prayer beads for Buddhists.

    • 4). Talk to other people about their experiences and relationships with God. They don't have to follow your same religion in order for you to learn from them, as there are many different ways to find and experience God, but religious seekers and believers from different religions can often share similar experiences, emotions and paths.
