Medical Emergencys can occur anywhere.

From a shopping excursion to a fall in your own home, a medical emergency such as a trip or a fall can be deadly to many elderly people. Falls which then go on to break bones or generally the hips claim far more lives than people people care to imagine, but why though?

Statistically most elderly people live alone, and statistically elderly people are the most likely to suffer trips/falls are general accidents in the household. What does this all mean?

It means that the group of the population most likely to be injuired will be injuired alone with noone to help. Not only this, but they are far more frail and far less likely to have a mobile/cell phone on their person with which to dial the emergency services.

What does this all add up to?

This adds up to a large amount of elderly people falling and being left alone for hours, even days when they need medical care and assistance. There have been cases where the injuired have died not just from the shock or impact of the fall. But have died from starvation, dehydration or even worse collapsed lungs.

How can this be combated? How can we stop or reduce these incidents from happening?

Medical Alarm Devices. Medical alarm devices have been proven to substantially reduce the deaths from trips or falls. I don't believe that the only solution to caring for the elderly is throwing them into old folks homes or having 24/7 support and care. I believe that without the right medical alarm device the elderly or disabled person can have the confidence to move around and do what they want, when they want - without the fear that if they are injuired no one will be coming for them.
