How to Stop an Opossum on Your Fence
- 1). Install floodlights all around your fence in various directions, so that the lights will shine right in the eyes of opossums no matter what direction they're coming in. This will be a big deterrent as opossum are nocturnal. Hang an inexpensive radio set to a talk radio station off one part of the fence to scare the opossums away.
- 2). Attach opossum traps to the top of your fence, baiting them with cat food, corn on the cob or peanut butter. If the opossums on your fence are wise to traps or shy, wire the door open for a few days until the opossums readily accept the bait and then loosen the door so it will work as a live trap.
- 3). Sprinkle predator urine along and on the fence to deter opossum, such as the urine from foxes or coyotes. Fill old coffee cans with ammonia and place them along the ground by the fence.
