How to Make a Platform Bed in My Small Pick Up
- 1). Remove the tailgate of your truck, and remove it from the area where it may get splattered with paint. Clean the bed of the truck using rags and some water, and then sand it down to remove any leftover dirt or grease.
- 2). Mask the areas of the truck that you do not want to be coated in the liner paint. Also place masking tape over the drain holes of the pickup bed. Wipe down the entire pickup bed with an acetone-soaked rag. Allow it to dry.
- 3). Paint the bed liner paint onto the pickup using the paint roller. Once the entire bed has been covered, use the paintbrush to touch up any areas that may have been missed. Paint the inside of the tailgate in the same manner. Let the paint dry for four hours, and repeat if desired. Allow the second coat to dry overnight, and check the tailgate is completely dry before reattaching it. Your pickup now has a platform bed that is durable and protected.
