    • 1). Launch iTunes and use the cord to connect the iPhone to the computer.

    • 2). Click your phone's icon under "Devices" in iTunes left column. Click the "Restore" option in the "Version" section of your iTunes application window.

    • 3). Select "Back Up" from the resulting dialog box to create a file that has your phone's contacts, calendars and other vital information before restoring.

    • 4). Click "Restore" in the next dialog box and wait for iTunes to prompt you to disconnect your iPod. This process can take more than an hour, depending on the amount of information iTunes needs to back up and restore.
