Now that Apple has moved to a third-generation iPod nano, not too many accessory makers are still making second-generation iPod nano cases. Luckily for owners of that model who like to exercise, Case Logic has just released a top-notch iPod nano case: the True Sport armband.
The True Sport is an iPod nano case attached to an armband that allows you to strap the iPod to your arm during exercise to provide some musical accompaniment. While the basic features of the case aren’t unique — most of these iPod sports cases have the same features these days — the total package here is terrific.
To use the case, you just slip the nano into a slot. The case protects the nano’s screen and clickwheel with a thin plastic screen. Some cases make this protector too thick, diminishing the effectiveness of the clickwheel. The True Sport doesn’t have any such problem. Its plastic overlay is thin and responsive, providing precise control of the iPod. And though the overlay makes the screen look a little fuzzy, you’re not looking at the screen for quality while exercising.
The case shines during exercise, too. It feels great on the arm and keeps the iPod from moving even during vigorous movement. Unlike a lot of iPod armbands, the True Sport is not too tight and gives you enough slack to not cut off circulation while also staying in place.
In a nice touch that’s becoming more common on iPod sports cases, the True Sport also features a little envelope behind the iPod to store a key, license or similar thin, light item.
With its combination of smart design, great performance, and solid security, the Case Logic True Sport Armband for iPod nano is a welcome addition to the iPod sport case space and a sure bet for those people who still love their second-generation iPod nanos.
