How to Germinate Mango Seeds From Fruit
- 1). Select a ripe, fresh mango that has no firm spots. Cut away as much of the fruit's flesh from the pit as possible with a sharp knife.
- 2). Scrub the pit with a rough sponge to remove any remaining bits of fruit flesh.
- 3). Cut along the edge of the convex side of the pit until the kernel inside is exposed. Slide the kernel out and discard the husk.
- 4). Fill a planting pot with coarse sand. Plant the kernel in the sand so the concave side faces the bottom of the pot. Leave 1/4-inch of the seed visible above the sand.
- 5). Water the sand until the liquid comes out of the bottom of the pot. Leave the pot in a sunny spot and water it when the sand becomes dry. The seed should germinate within three weeks.
