How to Replace a 1995 Chevrolet Astro MAF
- 1). Park the Astro and let it cool for 30 minutes if the engine has been running. If the van was driven a long distance, wait up to an hour to ensure all components are cool.
- 2). Open the hood. Locate the MAF sensor, which can be found between the air filter housing and the vehicle's throttle body.
- 3). Remove the wiring harness from the sensor. The harness will unplug with little force. Set it to the side so you won't damage it while removing the sensor.
- 4). Remove the two bolts securing the sensor in place, using a T20 torx bit along with a bit driver. When the bolts are removed, set them to the side. Pull the sensor out of the vehicle. Be careful not to hit surrounding components. Discard the sensor.
- 5). Put the replacement sensor in place. Align the bolt holes on the sensor with the holes on the mount.
- 6). Replace the bolts and tighten them using the T20 torx. Plug the wiring harness into the replacement sensor. You will hear a click when the harness is plugged in all the way. Close the hood.
