How to repair Turn Signal Flasher on a 1994 Cutlass Ciera
- 1). Open the front driver side door on the car. Position yourself so that you're able to see under the dashboard.
- 2). Locate the flasher directly in line with the steering column under the dashboard. It will be held in place by a clamp that is secured to the steering column's support rail by one bolt.
- 3). Remove the negative cable from the battery if you are replacing the flasher. Wrap the metal terminal at the end of the cable completely with black electrical tape. The negative terminal on the battery can be identified by a minus symbol on the top of the battery. Lay down the cable within the engine compartment. Make sure the cable is not contacting any metal surfaces or the engine itself.
- 4). Remove the bolt from the flasher support clamp with a socket wrench. Carefully lower the flasher from its position under the dashboard.
- 5). Unfasten the support clamp by hand and take it off of the flasher. Unplug the wiring harness from the flasher. Do not pull the harness off by its wires. Remove the harness by its plug instead. To install a new flasher for the Cutlass Ciera simply reverse this procedure. Reconnect the negative battery cable last to complete the process.
