How to Make Your Own Sea Creature Hats
- 1). Cut a piece of white card stock into the shape of a dorsal shark fin. The shape of this fin is a large triangle that is narrow at the top and wider at the bottom. Have your child use markers or crayons to color the fin blue. Or, if he prefers, let him be creative and color his fin green, purple or pink.
- 2). Color the paper plate to match the fin with markers or crayons.
- 3). Glue the fin to the center of the paper plate, so it stands upright. Think of how a shark's dorsal fin looks like when it's sticking out of the water.
- 4). Cut 2-inch triangles from white construction paper. Glue these triangles to the bottom of the plate in the front. These triangles are the shark’s teeth, so make them pointy.
- 5). Poke a hole on each side of the plate with a hole puncher, so they are on the opposite side of the fin.
- 6). Thread a piece of yarn, ribbon or string through each hole. The strings should be long enough that when they are tied together your child can wear the hat comfortably. Tie the yarn or string to each hole.
- 7). Tie the shark hat to your child’s head.
