    • 1). Wash the metal siding with a water-based degreasing cleanser, using a coarse plastic brush.

    • 2). Rinse the metal siding, using a pressure washer equipped with a low-pressure tip.

    • 3). Apply painter's tape to areas you do not want painted. Cover the ground immediately beneath the siding with drop cloths.

    • 4). Coat the metal siding with galvanized metal self-etching primer using a roller equipped with a nap cover. Smooth the wet self-etching primer using a 3- to 4-inch synthetic polyester paintbrush. Apply light pressure and brush in a vertical motion. Wait four hours for the primed siding to dry.

    • 5). Wash the brush and roller with water.

    • 6). Coat the primed metal siding with acrylic latex paint, using the clean roller. Smooth the wet paint with the polyester paintbrush. Wait two hours for the finished siding to dry.
