Carbona Stain Devils Stain Removers - About.com Laundry Product Review
Carbona began making laundry solutions in the late 1890s which were non-flammable and a vast improvement to home stain cleaning methods. Today the company is owned by Delta Pronatura, based in Egelsbach, Germany. The company produces both laundry and household cleaning products.
After reviewing the Carbona Color Grabber Cloths, I was anxious to try their line of stain removers - Carbona stain devils. Stain Devils are a group of nine stain removers; each specially formulated to remove specific stains. The group includes:
- 1. Glue, Gum & Nail Polish
- 2. Ketchup, Mustard & Chocolate
- 3. Ink & Crayon
- 4. Blood & Dairy
- 5. Fat & Cooking Oil
- 6. Makeup, Dirt & Grass
- 7. Motor Oil & Lubricant
- 8. Wine, Tea, Coffee & Juice
- 9. Rust & Perspiration
bottle. They are available individually or as a set and can be purchased online or in major mass retailers, grocery stores and fabric shops.
I tested Stain Devil #1 and Stain Devil #5. Following the bottle instructions carefully, I had mixed results. The test I ran on a freshly smeared fingernail polish stain was unsuccessful. Even after two applications, I still had a nail polish stain - lighter, but still there. Stain Devil #5 did remove the cooking oil stain.
I was unable to find a complete list of ingredients for each formula. The company does offer Material Data Safety Sheets on its website. Stain Devil #1 contains regulated ingredients: ethanol and Tetraoxatetracosan-1-ol. Stain Devil #5 contains regulated ingredients: Propane-1,2-diol, Exthoxylated alcohols and Tridecyl alcohol.
